St. James’s Children’s Center was founded in 1986. Over our history we have always stood out among child care programs for providing all children, regardless of ability, exceptional educational and cultural experiences. As a child care center, the Children’s Center was established as an affordable, academically competitive preschool and after-school education program for children 2-12, including those identified with special needs.

We have many donors and volunteers, and they offer their support in many ways. We are supported in part by the generous parishioners of St. James’s Episcopal Church. We also receive funding from independent grants and gifts of other generous individuals who recognize the amazing difference we have made in the lives of our more than 2,000 graduates.

Today the Children’s Center continues to accomplish its original mission by:

  • providing a loving environment for all children, including those who are at risk and those with special needs
  • teaching to respect the differences, strengths, and weaknesses in each other
  • providing an enriching and academically competitive pre-school and after-school education for all of its children
  • maintaining a challenging program of educational excellence
